Who should attend?

Head Start is effective because it is a holistic and comprehensive model -- and our Shine Assist program is built to support three major program service areas (PDM, Family Engagement and early education) in a streamlined and integrated way. With this in mind, we ask that programs to attend as teams, in order to get the right conversations and questions happening during the event: Your program's Head Start Director and/or Executive Director, and senior leaders in PDM / data management, early education, and family engagement are all encouraged to attend.

Programs are encouraged to bring 3-5 people each. If you believe you will be bringing a group outside of that range, please let us know so that we can support you in getting the full possible value out of this event.

When will an agenda be available?

We anticipate an at-a-glance schedule by the end of March, 2017, and a full agenda for the event in April. We are happy to share prior years' agendas to give you a clearer sense of the usual shape of the event.

Currently we expect the event to run for the full day on June 6 and for a half-day (AM) on June 7th, allowing programs plenty of time to ask follow up questions and make return travel arrangements in the afternoon.

Where can I find out more information about the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick?

We have a special hotel block and special rate, which expires May 15th. The rates are as follows:

Single or Double Occupancy: $ 185.00                                                                                                                                                                                   Triple Occupancy: $ 210.00                                                                                                                                                                                             Quadruple Occupancy: $ 235.00

In case you aren’t familiar with New Brunswick, it is a lively New Jersey town, known for its arts and culture, live theater and great shopping areas.   If you're looking to soak in the arts and some entertainment in the evenings or a day before the event, you’ll find the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum (home to over 60,000 works), the George Street Playhouse (which presents live drama and comedy productions), the State Theater, the Stress Factory Comedy Club.

Of course, if you'd rather decompress by hitting a fitness trail, going for a run or meditating in a garden, both Buccleuch Park and Rutgers Gardens are within a short distance of the hotel, which is near Rutgers College. Not to mention, the hotel itself offers a 24-hour Gym, soothing whirlpool, and an indoor heated pool.

There's also always retail therapy nearby—some shops are within walking distance of the hotel and there's shuttle service to the local mall. Although, if you're a serious shopper, you can always plan an evening trip to the Jersey Shore Outlets or into NYC!
